On November 15, 2022, the Copyright Society of the South welcomed the following guest speakers to speak on the Christian music industry’s current landscape and what lies ahead:

  • Jackie Patillo, President and Executive Director of the Gospel Music Association (https://gospelmusic.org/);
  • Don Cason, President and CEO of the Church Music Publishers Association Action Fund (https://cmpamusic.org/advocacy/action-fund/); and
  • Ed Leonard, President of Daywind Music Group and VP of New Day Christian Distributors (https://daywind.com/).

Kent Draughon, Society Board Member and VP/Administration & Operations for Capitol CMG Publishing, moderated the informative discussion and presentation.  According to the Gospel Music Association over 53 million Americans listen to Christian and Gospel music on a regular basis each week.  Listeners are diverse and most of the base is under the age of 50.   Christian genre artists and events are filling stadiums both domestically and internationally.  Among the challenges of the genre continue to be limited media exposure and promotion, as well as competition with  ear share and mindshare; however, the future looks bright with over 2.2 billion Christians accounted globally.

The luncheon event was held at H.O.M.E. (https://homeformusic.org/) for Society members and their guests.
