On April 23rd, 2015  The Copyright Society of The South welcomed Tal Dickstein and E. Michael Harrington to discuss the recent lawsuit between Pharrell Williams, Robin Thicke, and Marvin Gaye’s family. The two songs in dispute, “Gotta Give It Up” (By Marvin Gaye) and “Blurred Lines” (Pharrell Williams ans Robin Thicke) has been a hot topic in the music industry. Although the verdict was made in Marvin Gaye’s favor, others speculate. Michael Harrington points out many songs have similarity to them. Where do we draw the line?

No matter what side you are on we can all agree this will affect artists and composers in the future.
